Xiamen Airlines and Airbus announced a strategic partnership within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) recommended by the United Nations.
The two partners signed a cooperation agreement (MoC) during the last Paris Air Show to consolidate their intentions, which had already been previously established during the 14th Airshow China which was held in Zhuhai, in 2022. Their MoC encompasses several areas of collaboration such as adopting Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) for test, cargo and commercial flights, exploring innovative solutions and technologies to improve fleet fuel efficiency, reducing emissions and mitigation of noise levels, collaborative implementation of environmentally friendly travel initiatives to encourage low-carbon transport, fulfillment of corporate social responsibility, development of talent in emerging technologies and sustainability expertise, and strengthening cooperation in the area of environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria.
Xiamen Airlines’ commitment to the SDGs was underscored when it became the only Chinese airline to join the United Nations Global Compact at the end of 2022. In May 2023, the airline Chinese private airline, based in Xiamen in Fujian province, has successfully completed the first A321neo commercial flight in mainland China using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), in collaboration with Airbus and China Aviation Oil.
