Wyndham is the largest hotel franchise company in the world. It is also the leading provider of management services with approximately 9,100 hotels in over 95 countries. Wyndham is a relatively low profile company in Europe but its loyalty program has 100 million members.
Wyndham continues to expand
In 2022, the group obtained 169 new hotel signings, 132 hotel openings and the addition of more than 18,000 new rooms. This represents 5% room growth in Southeast Asia and 10% room growth in our direct franchise and mainland China managed properties.
The company also opened its first hotels in new markets, including Xiong’an, Mainland China; Sapporo, Japan; and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, while introducing six of its brands to new countries, introducing a set of brands. We find, for example: Ramada Encore by Wyndham in Vietnam, Microtel by Wyndham in New Zealand and LaQuinta by Wyndham in China. Together, these additions bring Wyndham’s Asia-Pacific brand portfolio to 14 brands as part of its mission to make hotel travel possible for everyone.
In 2023, Wyndham is already signing 50 budget establishments
“Project ECHO is an acronym for Economy Hotel Opportunity, This project fills the white spaces of the business. This is a segment that has seen record growth and resilience.
“Over the past two years, budget extended stay hotels have outperformed all other segments and, in 2021, set new records for occupancy, ADR and RevPAR,” said Geoff Ballotti, President and CEO of the management of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “The demand for these accommodations is only increasing.”
During the pandemic, US RevPAR in this segment increased by 8% compared to 2019, while the rest of the industry decreased by 17%. Additionally, in 2021, the average U.S. extended-stay budget hotel occupancy rate was over 78%, 20 points higher than all other U.S. segments combined.
A loyalty program with 100 million members
To tell you the truth, I had the chance to be part of the team that set up the Points Ciel program, which became the S’miles program. It was one of the most important loyalty programs in France. But we would have loved to have 100 million members!
Wyndham Rewards, the world’s most generous rewards program with more than 50,000 hotels, resorts and vacation rentals worldwide. It just hit a milestone with 100 million registered members. It must be recognized that the program allows a quick offer to the reward. There is a very varied entertainment program. Hat!
