The announcement finally fell on the evening of Friday May 5: the WHO declared the Covid 19 pandemic over. An announcement that closes the circle that began on January 30, 2020 with the declaration of an international health emergency by the UN body and continued on March 11, when the organization’s directives first used the word “pandemic”.
In a statement, the WHO said the time had come for countries around the world to no longer treat Covid as an emergency, but as a disease destined to endure. The virus is still circulating, but it’s no longer something sudden and unexpected, so it’s not an emergency.
