Like every evening in West Hollywood (WeHo), October 31 will be the opportunity to shine, but this time in costume! The West Hollywood Halloween Carnival officially returns to Santa Monica Boulevard featuring extravagant parades, live music and tons of entertainment. On this occasion, a series of events will invade the city to offer residents and visitors a global and meaningful experience. It has not taken place since 2019.

Celebrating Party and Freedom in West Hollywood

In West Hollywood, you can be whatever you want every day of the year – this freedom of expression is a daily reality, and it’s especially highlighted when October 31st approaches. Since its first edition in 1987, this celebration has become deeply rooted in the cultural heritage and diversity of the West Hollywood community.

Over the years, this holiday, now renamed Carnival, has become an iconic event for the entire Los Angeles area, offering spectacular costumes, live music, entertainment, and a celebration of culture and authenticity .

To enjoy this evening, there are two simple rules: leave the children at home and prepare for a memorable evening that will amaze you.

Carnival will be held on Tuesday October 31, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., along Santa Monica Boulevard, between N. Doheny Drive and N. La Ciénaga Boulevard. The festivities will include DJ sets, food trucks and thousands of extravagant night owls, making this event the night of the year not to be missed. Entrance to the Carnival is free, and the city warmly encourages fans of this event to share their enthusiasm by proudly showing off their best costumes on social networks with the hashtag #wehohalloween.

In October, the whole city plays the game

Returning from one of the most important events in the region, WeHo pulled out all the stops.

To celebrate Carnival and wait until D-Day, the city’s stakeholders take part in the festivities by organizing a multitude of events throughout the month of October.

What’s Halloween without a good dose of thrills? Nestled in the West Hollywood Design District, the Melrose Rooftop Theater is an outdoor cinema, perched on the restaurant’s roof that offers a cutting-edge cinematic experience using wireless technology and individual headsets. In October, the most iconic Halloween films are shown on the roof, including Practical Magic, Scream, Get Out, Hocus Pocus, Ghostbusters and many others. Visitors can purchase a classic admission ticket for $25 or opt for the full dinner + movie experience for two for $109, which includes a three-course meal and two plush armchairs.

Halloween Costume Party at Rainbow Bar & Grill

A favorite haunt of the late Motörhead singer Lenny Kilmister, whose life-size statue now sits on the back patio, the Rainbow has seen its fair share of scary and garish outfits over the years. Alice Cooper, John Lennon and other members of the so-called “Hollywood Vampires” also graced the venue in their iconic outfits. So it goes without saying that the bar’s annual Halloween costume party is a big draw.
