On November 8, the Spanish low-cost airline Volotea announced the upcoming opening of its ninth French base and its twentieth European base at Brest-Bretagne airport.
400,000 seats offered in 2024
From April 2024, Volotea will base an Airbus A320 at the Breton airport, paving the way for the creation of around thirty direct jobs and 170 indirect jobs. The airline plans for next year the highest capacity in its history at Brest-Bretagne airport, with nearly 400,000 seats offered (+200% compared to 2023), 20 destinations compared to 7 currently and three new countries served (Italy, Greece and Portugal). Four exclusive routes will be offered from Brest from April 2024: Athens (20,000 seats available, two flights per week), Barcelona (26,000 seats available, two flights per week), Faro (21,000 seats, two flights per week) and Palermo (21,000 seats, two flights per week).

Since its beginnings in 2013, Volotea has transported more than 660,000 passengers to or from Brest. For the year 2023, Volotea is offering a total of nearly 126,000 seats until the end of the year, an increase of 95% compared to the previous year. 30% of lines are dedicated to island destinations. Currently, Volotea connects Brest with seven destinations: Ajaccio, Bastia, Figari, Montpellier, Marseille, Nice and Palma de Mallorca. Their average occupancy rate is 95%.
