Volotea also mentions its support to “local economic development” with the creation of 78 direct and 445 indirect jobs.

Lyon is a key airport for Volotea. We have been banking on this aerodrome for more than 5 years and are committed to the city. Volotea will offer more than 770,000 seats from Lyon in 2023, 65% more than last year, connecting the city to 35 destinations in 10 different countries. This new line is an example of the constant growth of the company and our desire to continue working to be able to offer transport alternatives to all European citizens”comments Gabriel Schmilovich, general director of strategy at Volotea.

This year, Volotea launched 5 new lines departing from Lyon. Routes to Florence and Madrid which started flying in April; the route to Bilbao which opens today; and two more routes to Berlin and Hamburg will begin operating in October.

In addition to these connections to Germany, there is the Lyon – Düsseldorf line, offered in collaboration with Eurowings. This mutual marketing partnership covers the sale of 150 European routes operated by the two airlines on their respective websites. Concretely, 104 routes are offered by Eurowings and 46 operated by Volotea. As the route networks of the two companies do not overlap, this partnership should result by strong growth in the flight offering on the Volotea and Eurowings websites
