The airline company low cost Volotea offers 900,000 seats this year to Corsica airports, and plans to reach 1.5 million within 3 years.

“leader in connectivity on the Island of Beauty” with 29 destinations served in 2023 from the four Corsican airports, the Spanish specialist in low-cost flights says it represents “nearly 80% of the global offer” (not counting the capacity offer established for OSPs and lines to/from Paris). Building on the development of its network with Corsica, a historic partner, Volotea will offer a record offer in 2023 in the territory, with nearly 900,000 seats available, i.e. a 12% increase since 2019 (and 6 new destinations since that date). This year, she offers 29 routes including 16 exclusive serving 9 French cities (Brest, Bordeaux, Caen, Lille, Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, Strasbourg and Toulouse) from the four airports of the island: Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi And Figari. And she plans to open there 10 new links over the next three years.

With a filling rate of 94% on almost all the flights operated last year, Volotea “confirms the opening of relevant routes that meet the connectivity needs between the Island and the mainland”. Present in Corsica since 2012, the company “contributes largely to its attractiveness and its dynamism”: more than 6 million passengers have thus been transported from its beginnings to today.

And because the prospects “are not limited to the summer period”, Volotea remains mobilized “for a large part of the year” to meet the demand of its island customers for connections to France. “In this logic”, it plans to reach 1.5 million seats and the opening of 10 new lines in the next 3 years in order to continue to develop the island’s network.

Volotea plays a major role in the economic and social development of the territories where we operate, in particular for serving the islands. Corsica has been an important stage for the development of our company in France, from the start. Today, we are proud to be part of the “catalyst” actors of the territory’s influence said Carlos Muñoz, CEO and Founder of Volotea, in a statement.

Thanks to the partners who trust us and our good results, we want to continue to strengthen our local roots at the service of the economic dynamism of the region by exceeding very soon the symbolic bar of 1 million seats available in all Corsican airports (Ajaccio, Bastia, Figari and Calvi). Enough to allow travelers to discover or rediscover new horizons at affordable prices with a very good level of service. “, he added.
