Voletea from Strasbourg: already towards Gatwick, soon towards Berlin

Volotea will operate the line Strasbourg-Berlin from November 20 with two frequencies per week. The one towards Gatwick was inaugurated on November 9.

This announcement strengthens the territory’s connectivity with Germany and European capitals. Volotea thus claims to continue “its roots and development in France”. The company has just won the exclusivity of the new continuity of connection between Strasbourg Airport and Strasbourg Airport. Berlin-Brandenburg for departures from November 20 2023. As part of the public service delegation (DSP) defined by European aviation regulations and aimed at the economic and social development of the region, Volotea won the public call for tenders led by the French State and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alsace Eurometropolis. This new connection, operated by family plane A320, “essential to the good connectivity of the two territories”, will be offered every Monday and Thursday with more than 40,000 seats available. “More destinations are still to come and we look forward to telling you more soon”adds Gilles Gosselin, France Manager of Volotea. In this logic of expanding its offer of flights from and to Strasbourg, it inaugurated its first connection yesterday to the international airport Gatwick in London. Two flights per week, on Thursdays and Sundays, are planned for nearly 9,300 seats available.

Introduced to Strasbourg since the beginning of 2012 and with good performances this year, the airline is planning next year the highest capacity in its history with one million seats. It will also continue to play a central role in the connectivity of the Grand Est Region with new routes to reach 29 destinations in 2024.

Representing nearly 60% of its activity, the France is Volotea’s first market. Building on its excellent results, the airline has planned a historic offer with nearly 6.5 million seats by the end of the year. With 246 routes offered, almost half of which are exclusive and 61 are domestic, Volotea is a true leader in the number of lines in France.

More of the half of the connections it operates remain to this day without competition. In its network, the company holds the 1st even the 2nd place in terms of routes offered in most of its bases. More than 10 years after its creation, the company is accelerating its development and continues to enrich its offer in France by boosting connectivity in the territories where it is established. It has also just announced the opening of its 9th base in France with a based aircraft and the opening of 13 new destinations from Finistère airport in Brest. “These ambitions reflect Volotea’s desire to play an important economic and social role in France by creating 900 direct jobs and nearly 5,000 indirect jobs in 2024”underlines the attached press release.
