The Vietnamese national airline Vietnam Airlines will sign an initial agreement for the purchase of around fifty Boeing 737MAX For 10 billion dollars at list price, reported the financial agency Bloomberg.

The transaction was finalized between the two partners during US President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam yesterday. The official announcement should come soon. Vietnam is one of the fastest growing air markets. In 2022, in the post-pandemic recovery period, it was the fifth fastest-growing aviation market in the world, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It is expected to record up to 150 million passengers per year by 2035.

Last year, the private Vietnamese company VietJet already signed a mega-order with the American aircraft manufacturer for 200 737 MAXs to be delivered between 2024 and 2028. It remains to be seen whether Boeing will be able to respect the delivery schedule, with the delays experienced by the 737 MAX due to recurring problems in the supply chain.
