Depression Diez became Tropical Storm Idalia after passing through Cuba and the states of Quintana Roo and Yucatán, Mexico. It is now continuing towards Florida where it is expected to arrive as a category 1 hurricane. For this reason, a state of emergency has been declared in 33 counties in Florida, USA.
Central Florida and the Orlando area are under a state of emergency from next Tuesday through Thursday, so delayed and canceled flights could increase, although they have been low so far.
Storm Idalia is forecast to move away from the Fort Myers area of Naples, where the damage left by Ian is just recovering. The eye of the storm passed over Cozumel this Sunday.
An intense hurricane season in 2023…
