During the night of September 12 to 13, the Sevastopol naval base was attacked. The first images confirm the destruction of a landing ship. Announcements from Russian officials also confirm the loss of a Russian submarine. This attack demonstrates how a navy with only a flotilla of patrol boats can face one of the largest naval powers in the world.
On the night of September 12-13, the Sevastopol naval base was the target of a coordinated attack. This, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, included 10 missiles and three maritime drones (Reuters). The Ukrainians targeted two dry docks located in the southern area of the naval base. Recent satellite images showed that the two holds were occupied by;
- the Minsk tank landing ship (Ropucha class)
- an improved Kilo class submarine
The attack appears to have been extremely precise, as one of the first images of the burning Minsk shows.
