THE German tour operator TUIthe world’s number one tourism company, today confirmed its annual outlook for the 2023 financial year, based on solid bookings for the summer and the next winter season.
The German group recorded 13.7 million reservations from customers worldwide for summer 2023, an increase of 5% compared to the previous summer season. These summer bookings reached 96% of pre-Covid levels. “If it had not been for various events beyond our control over the past few months, including the Rhodes fires, we would have exceeded our expectations“, declared its general director Sebastian Ebel.
European airlines as well as tour operators like TUI have enjoyed a bumper tourism season thanks to post-pandemic holiday demand across the continent, despite extreme weather conditions, from floods to heatwaves, disrupting flights and vacations.
For TUI, the outlook is very favorable for the 2023/2024 winter season: reservation commitments have increased by 15% compared to last winter 2022/2023.
