Trending: the most popular destinations in June, according to tour operators

At Top 10 of the best-selling destinations in June by French tour operatorsmetropolitan France is still in the lead, ahead of Spain and Greece, according to the Orchestra Barometer for the website The Tourist Echo.

Follow Tunisia (4th place), Egypt (5th), Turkey (6th), Italy (7th), Morocco (8th), Portugal (9th) and the Dominican Republic (10th), according to this barometer monthly which corresponds to the sales of tour operators made in French travel agencies (physical and online).

All destinations combined, sales made by French tour operators fell by 3% in June 2023, compared to June 2022. The month of May had already recorded a decline of 6% over a sliding year, while March and April had experienced conversely an increase of 29% and 16% respectively.

The tour operator Bourse-des-vols adds details on the dry flight sales : “activity in June 2023 is slightly up in order intake for air-only flights, compared to June 2022: +2% in sales in a search volume down 13%. The trend of the previous month is confirmed with a slowdown in sales after a euphoric first quarter of 2023. We seem to be living the end of the “revenge travel“, post-Covid catch-up sales“.

Departures for the summer period represent 77% of June sales: “customers buy close departures“, underlines the tour operator with whom the average basket is up 44% compared to 2019 (and +12% compared to 2022). North Africa is still the first medium-haul destination sold, with Algeria and Tunisia up on 2019. The United States is in 4th position for sales (at 57% of 2019). The French West Indies are at 90% of the 2019 sales level. Finally, in the northern Mediterranean Basin, Greece and Turkey are the main destinations sought.
