Traffic at Spanish airports in July exceeded 2019 levels

THE 46 airports in Spainoperated by Aena, reached the month of July 2023 a historical record of 29.7 million passengersi.e. 10% more than in July 2022 and a 1.2% more than in July 2019period before the pandemic.

Of the 29.7 million passengers recorded on arriving and departing commercial flights, almost 20.5 million passengers were on international flights, up 11.9% from July 2022, and some 9.2 million passengers flew on national flights, ie 6% more than last year.

In July 2023, Aena handled 242,222 aircraft movements at its 46 airports spread across the Iberian Peninsula, 5.1% more than in 2022; and these planes transported 86,779 tons of goods, or 8.6% more than last year.

According to the operator Aena, the international airport of the Spanish capital Madrid-Barajas remains the busiest airport platform in Spain, followed by Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Ibiza, Gran Canaria and Valencia.
