JetBlue A320s to Get Fewer Additional Seats than Originally Planned

JetBlue Airways has decided to install 162 seats rather than the originally planned 165 seats in retrofitting each of its Airbus A320 jets with new cabin interiors. Each JetBlue A320 currently has 150 seats, so JetBlue’s A320 cabin refurbishment will see it add 12 more seats in each aircraft.

The carrier will first roll out the new three-seat rows beginning in mid-2016, on new Boeing 737-800 deliveries. B/E Aerospace, which designed and engineered the seat row, unveiled the new Southwest Airlines seat-row on April 14 at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

Alaska Airlines is installing in most of its Boeing 737NG aircraft new Recaro seats like those in its new 737-900ERs, allowing the carrier to add more seats in each aircraft’s cabin while providing the same amount of personal space for each passenger in each aircraft as they have now.
