SkyTeam has launched a new mobile app, which is available to all passengers traveling with any of its 13 member airlines.

The SkyTeam iPhone App contains a variety of useful features for travelers, including worldwide airline flight schedules, flight status, weather information with seven-day forecasts, notifications to users of updates and changes, an airport locator and important contact phone numbers.

The app’s eSkyGuide also provides the ability to look up flight schedules in Flight Mode when internet access is disabled, according to the SkyTeam alliance.

This graphic shows all the logos of airlines which were members of the SkyTeam Alliance as of November 30, 2010. Other airlines which had committed to join the alliance by that date, but which were not yet formally inducted as members, included China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines, China Airlines, Garuda Indonesia and Aerolineas Argentinas. The Argentinean carrier was scheduled to become a member of SkyTeam in 2012

“The SkyTeam App confirms SkyTeam’s ongoing commitment to accelerating product and service developments to meet our global travelers’ need for seamless travel,” says Mauro Oretti, SkyTeam’s vice president sales and marketing. “It helps our customers get to where they need to be by providing useful and updated travel information from our members.”

The SkyTeam app for the iPhone and iPad is available for free on the iTunes App Store. SkyTeam says Blackberry and Android users will have access to the App within the next two months.
