Megabus.com Expands to Texas and the Southern U.S.

Express-bus company Megabus.com, which offers fares from $1, is expanding service to Texas and the southern United States.

Residents of Dallas, Houston and San Antonio will be able to travel on Megabus.com buses to Austin, Texas; Norman, Oklahoma; Memphis, Tennessee; Little Rock, Arkansas; and New Orleans, at fares beginning at $1.

Dallas is one of three Texas cities from which Megabus.com is offering services throughout the southern U.S.

Megabus.com service in Texas will begin June 19. Customers can book travel on the new services from May 31 at www.megabus.com.

The bus company’s fares start at around $1 and get higher as the traveling date gets closer. Customers are encouraged to book early to secure $1 fares.

During the first week of sales all tickets will be no more than $1 and the company will offer 10,000 free seats. Megabus.com will also provide additional $1 fares during the following weeks.

The free and $1 seats will be available on megabus.com for departures to and from Dallas and the expansion cities, subject to availability on select dates and routes.

Megabus.com, a subsidiary of Coach USA, which in turn is a subsidiary of UK-based bus- and rail-transport giant Stagecoach, began operations in April 2006 and has become one of the largest intercity express bus travel providers in North America, transporting more than 18 million travelers to date.

The company operates modern, environmentally friendly buses which feature free Wi-Fi, power outlets for laptops, and restrooms.
