A transatlantic crossing from Southampton by Queen Mary 2 was canceled at the last minute due to a technical problem.
Cunard’s flagship was scheduled to depart for New York on Sunday April 23, but passengers were told the ship could not sail.
The seven-night return trip from New York to Southampton was also canceled due to work to resolve the issue taking longer than expected.
Affected passengers were offered a full refund plus a 20% future cruise credit.
A spokesperson for the line said: “Cunard has advised that due to a technical issue which needs to be resolved before the M310/A sailing trip on Queen Mary 2 to New York has been cancelled. As a result, the M311/A trip from New York was also cancelled.
“All guests will receive a full refund and a future cruise credit of 20% of monies paid. This can be used for any future reservations made before April 23, 2025.

We were nevertheless made to embark on the boat in order to accommodate us while we were repatriated. We had information by mail distributed to each traveler, which assured us that we would be fully reimbursed for the amount of the transatlantic as well as the costs incurred on land for the rest of the trip.
