The trade association, ANVR, reported that more than 3 million people (1 in 5 inhabitants) had booked holidays across the country! This is a new record.
50% progress compared to 2022
The number of bookings through an ANVR-affiliated travel agency increased by 50% compared to last year, when covid measures still restricted travel. Even the number of reservations increased by 13% compared to 2019. These figures come from a survey of more than 40,000 consumers by market researcher GfK.
Destinations to Europe are the majority
Holidaymakers mainly booked trips to destinations in Europe (83%). Compared to 2019, demand to Belgium (76%), Italy (34%), France (34%), Austria (31%), Denmark (49%) and Norway (44% ) is growing rapidly. Trips to popular sun destinations like Spain, Greece and Turkey are important.
Asia is recovering
Asia is popular among lovers of long-distance travel. The continent saw the biggest increase in bookings compared to last year. Africa is also a popular destination, although it mainly concerns only countries like Egypt and Morocco.
