Syria declared that the Israeli forces yesterday launched simultaneous missile attacks on the international airports of its capital Damascus and the city ofAleppoin the north of the country.
A Syrian military source cited by the official SANA news agency said that “missile bursts” hit both airports at the same time, damaging the runways and putting both platforms out of service until further notice. All flights serving these two Syrian airports are being redirected to the airport in the coastal province of Latakia.
Israel regularly accuses Iran of using Syrian airports to transport weapons to Lebanese Hezbollah. According to RFI radio, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which has a vast network of informants in Syria, however assured yesterday that no shipment of arms or ammunition was recently unloaded in the two airports concerned.
