In collaboration with the Swiss Federal Railways (CFF), SWISS extends its Air Rail intermodal network by adding theGeneva airport.
The two partners are launching an Air Rail offer via Geneva airport. This extension offers SWISS passengers using the Lausanne, Friborg or Bern stations the choice between connecting via Zurich airport or via Geneva airport. For example, they can travel directly and easily from New York to Lausanne, Friborg or Bern via Geneva, or vice versa. Until now, only Geneva central station was connected to the Air Rail network. SWISS passengers can now book and use the new connection from or to Geneva airport.
This new step in the extension of the intermodal offer between SWISS and the CFF brings the number of airport stations to two (the airports of Zurich and Geneva) and the number of destinations on the SWISS Air Rail network to eleven (the cities of Geneva , Fribourg, Bern, Interlaken, Lausanne, Lucerne, Lugano, Bellinzona and Basel in Switzerland, as well as Munich in Germany and Bregenz in Austria).
As with all SWISS Air Rail destinations, customers benefit from the possibility of booking the entire journey in one step for connections to/from Geneva airport. The train ticket is included in the price of the SWISS flight and can be booked at www.swiss.com and at all travel agencies. Passengers only need to check in once and receive all boarding passes directly from SWISS.
To improve the control of boarding passes, SWISS tickets will now have the SBB QR code. The two companies have thus taken a new step in the integration of their IT environments. The medium-term objective is to obtain greater transparency at passengers’ embarkation and disembarkation points to offer them precise information on other travel options, for example in the event of malfunctions.
