According to the local newspaper Slobodna Dalmacijathe city of Split, one of the most touristic in Croatia, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, will impose a fine of 150 euros from this year if you walk around town in a bathing suit, shirtless, or if you drink alcohol in public places.

The new municipal legislation provides for fines also for those who litter, occupy green spaces and for leisure establishments that exceed decibel thresholds during high hours of the night.

Similar measures have been in force since last year in the historic center of Dubrovnik, where it is forbidden to walk around in swimsuits or half-naked.

Since 1979, Split and Dubrovnik have been included in the universal cultural heritage of Unesco for its historical and cultural monuments of extraordinary beauty and value.

A little dress up doesn’t hurt.
