Rail traffic between France and Italy remains suspended until September 10. The shutdown, initially planned until the end of August and now extended, was caused by a landslide that occurred last Sunday in Savoie, in Maurienne, which caused significant traffic problems.
On social networks, SNCF announced regarding the Paris-Milan line that “given the persistence of the situation in Maurienne, TGV Inoui traffic between Italy and France is suspended until September 10, 2023” . The amount of rock that fell from the cliff had been estimated at 700 cubic meters, but new assessments revealed the volume was in the order of 10,000 cubic meters.
While waiting for a return to normal, the SNCF specifies that travelers with tickets will be reimbursed 100%. Those who wish can also change their travel document free of charge.
