The Qatari company qatarairways and the Chinese company Xiamen Airlines signed a new partnership code sharing.
Thanks to this agreement, Xiamen Airlines becomes the first Chinese airline to operate passenger flights non-stop between mainland China and Qatar. It will launch on October 20, 2023 daily flights between Beijing-Daxing International Airport and Doha-Hamad International Airport, the Qatar Airways hub from which passengers will have access to destinations beyond Qatar, in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
In addition to flights from Beijing-Daxing, Xiamen Airlines will also launch two weekly flights from Xiamen, the special economic zone of Fujian Sheng province, to Doha. The flights will begin on October 31, 2023 and will offer the same seamless connectivity to the Qatar Airways network as the Beijing flights.
Xiamen Airlines’ Beijing-Doha direct link will be operated by Boeing 787-9 with a two-class configuration for 287 passengers (30 seats in Business class and 257 in Economy class). The Xiamen-Doha route operated by three-class Boeing 787-8 will accommodate 237 passengers (4 seats in First Class, 18 in Business Class and 215 in Economy Class).
In return, Qatar Airways will share its code on these new flights of the Chinese airline, which will considerably strengthen its presence in mainland China, which includes 6 destinations with a total of 31 weekly flights operated by its own (and also two daily flights to Hong Kong).
