Czech Airlines was founded on October 6, 1923. It moved to Prague Airport in 1937, renamed in 2012 Václav Havel Prague Airport. This weekend, the Czech capital’s airport celebrated the 100 years of the Czech national airline.

The stories of Czech Airlines and Prague Airport share a long common path that has been imprinted in the history of Czech aviation. Therefore, it is with pleasure that we join the celebrations of Czech Airlines, which operates at Václav Havel Airport in Prague, and we believe that our cooperation will begin to develop further in the near future “, said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport.

Visitors to Václav Havel Airport can learn about details of important historical milestones of Czech Airlines at the exhibition titled 100 years of Czech aviation history, organized by Prague Airport together with Czech Airlines. The exhibition is located in the connecting corridor between Terminals 1 and 2 from October 6, 2023 until the end of the year. A special microsite letisteslavi.cz has been created to let the public know all the interesting facts related to the current anniversary of Czech Airlines. The latter has also created a special section on its site where facts, key events, stories and photos from its century-old history are presented.

The hundred-year history of Czech Airlines has been marked by a number of milestones, triumphs but also challenges. Last but not least, it is also linked to the memories and experiences of millions of passengers. I am pleased that, given the very difficult period that the company had to go through recently, Czech Airlines can celebrate today the 100th anniversary of its establishment, as fifth oldest and still operating airline in the world “, said Petr Kudela, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Czech Airlines.

Two limited commemorative gifts were created for the 100th anniversary, namely a commemorative medal and a book entitled STO Letadel ČSA (100 Years of Czech Airlines). Both commemorative gifts will be available for purchase in the Václav Havel Airport gift shop, located in Terminal 2, from the end of October.
