New Zealand: South Islands and Chatham

In the presence of Chef Norka Mella Munoz of the Relais & Châteaux Wharekauhau Country Estate, this tropical expedition will reveal all the riches of the landscapes of Aoteaora, the land of the long white cloud. Departing from Wellington, capital of New Zealand, Le Laperouse will discover the east coast of the South Island, in one of the most preserved environments on the planet. The first stop will be in the Malborough Sounds, a vast network of submerged valleys forming a maze of hilly peninsulas and islands. Then come Kaikoura, famous for its rich marine biodiversity, the Chatham Islands, between breathtaking landscapes and intriguing Maori heritage, Akaroa and finally Dunedin. Between sumptuous panoramas and wildlife, this trip is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Maori history and culture.

Age-old fjords and unspoilt islands in southern New Zealand

Along the South Island, Le Laperouse will navigate in the heart of captivating landscapes, in the presence of the chef Jimmy McIntyre of the Relais & Châteaux l’Otahuna Lodge. World Heritage Site, and its fjords shaped by 100,000 years of glaciation. The ship will then set sail for the Snares Islands, a Subantarctic archipelago of New Zealand, and reach Ulva Island, one of the few predator-free sanctuaries, refuge for many species of rare birds and plants.
