By collaborating on six programs deployed in eight countries since 2009, the MSC Foundation has enabled UNICEF to support the education of 8,000 children in 126 vulnerable communities in Brazil, to fight against malaria in Africa, to help China in rolling out its food supplement program to prevent child malnutrition and providing ready-to-eat therapeutic meals to more than 115,000 severely malnourished children in Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia and Malawi.

In 2019, the MSC Foundation positioned itself as the first partner of the “Plastic waste for the benefit of schools” program in Côte d’Ivoire. This innovative initiative achieves a triple positive impact: the empowerment of women, the recycling of plastic waste and the education of children. Indeed, marginalized women collect plastic waste and recycle it into innovative bricks, which are then used to build modern and environmentally friendly classrooms.

Thanks to its constant efforts, the MSC Foundation has enabled this program to transform the lives of thousands of children in a lasting way, giving them access to education for a better future. In addition, this program has helped remove tons of plastic waste from landfills, while empowering the most vulnerable women who have been trained in waste collection and recycling. MSC even played a key role in establishing UNICEF’s recycling plant, which turns waste into bricks.

At the same time, the MSC Foundation provides great public visibility to UNICEF…

…by involving it in more than 20 international events with participants coming from all over the world and with significant media coverage. By bringing UNICEF initiatives and their impact to the forefront, the MSC Foundation helps raise awareness and support missions to improve the lives of children around the world.
