The national airline of the Maldives, Maldivian, and the manufacturer ATR have signed a firm order for two ATR 42-600s. These new, more fuel-efficient aircraft will join the airline’s existing regional fleet, which already includes two ATR 72-600s and one ATR 42-600, to replace older generation turboprops.

Maldivian, ATR partner since 2023

“We integrated our first two ATRs into our fleet in January 2023, and our passengers are already praising the comfort and modernity of their cabin, as well as the reliability of the services we offer. As a benchmark in the field of aviation regional, both in terms of financial efficiency and CO2 emissions, the ATR -600 series constitutes a valuable tool to develop responsibly, while providing rapid access to essential services and maintaining major links for residents of the archipelago and tourists”, explains Mohamed Mihad, general manager of Maldivian.

The two aircraft should be delivered by the end of the year for the first copy, and early 2025 for the second copy.
