The Madeira tourist office is pleased to confirm its presence at the IFTM Top Résa exhibition from October 3 to 5, 2023 on stand V032. The tourist office will share the stand with 4 partners: Blandy Travel, MBTours – Madeira, Savoy Signature and Hôtels Vila Galé.
Madeira is perfectly connected to France
Ricardo Beon, Trade Marketing Manager will be present to respond to requests from tourism professionals. The French market is doing well, thanks in particular to the opening of new airline routes such as Lyon-Funchal and Paris CDG Funchal with Easyjet and Paris-Beauvais-Funchal and Marseille-Funchal with Ryanair.
Transavia remains the main carrier for French customers, offering connections from Paris-Orly, Lyon and Nantes.
The French are in the top 5 customers of Madeira
France is in the Top 5 source markets, in fourth place behind Germany, the United Kingdom and Portugal. From January to June 2023, 98,282 French tourists stayed in Madeira, i.e. 22.8% more than in 2022 and even 14.8% more than in 2019, the pre-Covid reference year. The number of nights has naturally increased, although the average length of stay of French people has decreased compared to 2019.
Madeira wants to develop high-end and MICE
The Madeira Tourist Office wishes to continue its development on the French market and reach new segments such as high-end customers and MICE. Madeira, an archipelago of Portugal with 251,000 inhabitants, is located 500 km from the Moroccan coast and 1000 km from Lisbon. Funchal, its capital, is accessible less than 4 hours by flight from France. The island has many attractions, particularly for nature lovers. Its laurel forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its Queimadas forest park, its exceptional botany, its volcanic pools, and its more than 2,000 km of hiking trails will delight travelers all year round.
The gastronomy is not to be outdone with numerous culinary specialties and internationally renowned wine. Its originality? The 800km² island has 9 cable cars, some places being ©João Faria inaccessible by car. Its relief generates a climate that varies very quickly and offers the most luxuriant nature.
