London-Gatwick: ground staff strike lifted

A ground crew strikewhich promised to disrupt the summer vacation at the airport London-Gatwickwas lifted after wage offers accepted by employees.

A first walkout had already been suspended last weekend, and four additional days of strike, which should have started this Friday, “will not take place“, announced yesterday the Unite union in a press release. The movement concerned the ground staff of four subcontracting companies, notably employing ramp, handling and check-in agents.

Employees at three of those companies had previously approved raises “two digits“, and those of the fourth also have”voted to accept an improved salary offer“Providing a 10.3% increase in wages, Unite said, adding however that other ground service providers at London-Gatwick could also strike soon.
