All flights have been suspended at Luton Airport after a huge fire caused the partial collapse of one of its multi-storey car parks. The fire and rescue services declared a major incident on Tuesday October 10 at 9:38 p.m. More than 100 firefighters were on site.

In an update at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, the department said it had “controlled and extinguished” the fire, but urged people to avoid the area due to significant traffic delays.

Flights are suspended for a few more hours

All flights are suspended until 3 p.m. this Wednesday, October 11.

Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport at this time as access remains severely restricted.

“Passengers should contact their airline for information regarding their flight.”
