The Latam group has announced the resumption of its direct flights between Santiago (Chile) and Melbourne (Australia) from September 1, 2023.

Operations had been suspended since April 2020 due to the pandemic and will connect South America to the Australian city over a distance of more than 11,000 kilometers, the longest to be operated by the South American airline.

Initially, flights will resume with three weekly frequencies and will be operated with Boeing 787-9s, which can accommodate 300 passengers in Premium Business, Economy+ and Economy cabins. The group had already resumed operations to Australia last March with three weekly flights from Santiago to Sydney and has gradually increased this frequency to a frequency of one daily flight in December 2022.
