The airline company KLM Royal Dutch Airlines presented a new business classintended for its fleet of Boeing 777.
The new World Business Class seats presented on June 29, 2023 by the Dutch national company, based at the airport ofAmsterdam Schiphol, KLM were designed “on the basis of an in-depth customer study”. The new seats, signed Jamco Venture and installed in 1+2+1 (and already seen in its 787-9), aim to offer passengers “more space and comfort”. All passengers in KLM’s World Business Class will therefore have direct access to the aisle, with a light sliding door for each seat “which can be easily opened and closed, so that the seat can be closed for more privacy when you work, relax and/or sleep”.
Air France’s sister company is also promoting “more personal adjustment options and user-friendly features, including adjustable lumbar support and a relaxation setting with a subtle back massage function; the seat can be completely reclined flat to form a comfortable bed of 198cm long ; several charging sockets are easily accessible and clearly visible, and passengers also have a wireless charging option; passengers can stow their belongings in a lockable compartment, which also has an integrated mirror. The seat has a recessed bottle holder, so passengers can safely leave a bottle of water on their table, even in turbulence.
KLM further points out that “thanks to various innovations, the seats and their fittings are 10 to 15% lighter than other business class seats in this market segment, thus contributing to the sustainability objectives of the Dutch company. The whole fleet of Boeing 777-300ER (16) and -200ER (15) will be equipped with these new World Business Class seats, but also with the latest Premium Comfort cabin. “The complete overhaul will be completed during the coming year”, assures the company of the alliance SkyTeam. But the other World Business Class services, “including the dining concept and SkyPriority”, remain unchanged.
” Based on extensive research with our customers and competitors, we have upgraded our World Business Class seats to ensure customers have more privacy and comfort during their flight. The new seats are better in terms of design, technology and durability features. KLM responds to a wide range of passenger wishes with new seats in World Business Class, Premium Comfort, Economy Comfort and Economy Class. We are excited to offer these new related products and services to our customers around the world. said Boet Kreiken, EVP Customer Experience.
