ITA Airways has taken delivery of its first A321neo leased fromAir Lease Corporation from Airbus production facilities to Hamburg.
This latest addition further consolidates ITA Airways’ 100% Airbus fleet strategy, which currently has 81 devicesof which 33 latest generation, the A220 (8 units), the A320neo (13), the A321neo (1), theA350-900 (6) as well asA330-900 (5). ITA Airways’ A321neo was nicknamed “Massimiliano Rosolino”, Italian swimmer and Olympic champion in Sydney in 2000. It is intended to serve the airline’s medium-haul routes and is configured to accommodate 165 passengers in three classesincluding 12 full flat beds in business class with direct access to the aisle, 12 seats Premium Economy distributed 4 abreast and 141 seats Economyof which 12 are from Economy Comfort (with more legroom).
ITA Airways’ A321neo features Airbus’ Airspace cabin design, which includes new XL overhead bins and customized interior lighting based on the latest all-LED technology to help reduce jet lag. In addition, to improve the passenger experience, each seat is equipped with a latest generation in-flight entertainment system with individual screens and on-demand content. “Today, I am proud to add the first Airbus A321neo to our fleet, a brand new aircraft for our company”said Francesco Presicce, Chief Technology Officer and Responsible Director of ITA Airways. “In terms of type and internal configuration, the new aircraft is ideal for the airline’s upcoming routes (Middle East And Africa). The aircraft has a maximum range of around 4,000 nautical miles (7,400 km), allowing it to fly on routes to destinations outside Europe. To date, more than 5,500 A321neos have been ordered by customers around the world.
