Israel wants to simplify arrivals in the country by introducing the electronic visa, which should be operational by the end of the year.

Although French travelers do not need a visa to visit Israel if they are staying less than three months, beyond that, they must apply for an electronic visa by completing an online form and paying the fee. It is essential to have a passport valid for at least three months from the date of entry into Israel.

However, Israeli authorities are considering the establishment of an electronic travel authorization system called “Marom”, equivalent to ESTA for the United States or ETIAS for the EU.

According to the specialized site Visasnews.com: “Israeli authorities expect the new “Marom” travel authorization system “to be operational by the end of 2023, initially on a voluntary basis, then on a mandatory basis at the latest May 1, 2024.”

Israel: towards the introduction of an electronic travel authorization in 2024?
