In Dominica, everything rhymes with music!

Discover Dominica Authority, the Tourist Office of Dominica, has unveiled the program of the various festivals that will animate the year 2023.

This year marks the return of the emblematic festivals on the Nature Island: Jazz’N Creole, World Creole Music Festival and the authentic Mas Domnik carnival whose 2023 edition is the first since the start of the COVID 19 pandemic. Known for its rich culture and lively traditions, the island attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world to attend the various festivities.

MAS DOMNIK – from February 20 to 21, 2023

Mas Domnik launches the 2023 festival season. Organized February 20 and 21“The Real Mas” by its other name, brings its participants to life the ultimate carnival experience by honoring the traditions with African but also French influences on the island through music, art and dance. The festivities begin at dawn on Monday and continue on Tuesday, ending until the evening with a funeral ritual.

During the two days of the festival, the visitor is drawn into the heart of one of the most authentic and traditional carnivals of the Caribbean. Festival-goers from all walks of life come especially for the occasion, sometimes even two weeks before, to enjoy the celebrations preceding the event. Mas Domnik, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Discover Dominica Authority, has made the island an essential cultural and festive destination in the Caribbean and has helped develop the tourism, culture and entertainment sectors.

DOMINICA’S JAZZ ‘N CREOLE – April 30, 2023

Creole culture is celebrated on the occasion of the Jazz’N Creole festival held each year in Fort Shirley in the heart of Cabrits National Park, northwest of the island. This emblematic event mixes on a jazz and creole music day, local gastronomy. For its 12th edition, many prestigious guests will perform on stage. Various activities around jazz are also organized throughout the island of Dominica until the culmination of the festivities: Sunday, April 30.

WORLD CREOLE MUSIC FESTIVAL – from October 27 to 29, 2023

The World Creole Music Festival is THE festival in Dominica. More than just an event, the WCMF embodies Creole heritage from around the world and is an integral part of the celebrations organized on the occasion of Dominica’s independence each year. Recognized internationally for its eclectic musical programming in a tropical settingthe festival offers three days of live music mixing different musical genres ranging from Cadence-lypso to Kompa via Zouk, Soukous, Bouyon, Zydeco, and Afrobeat.
