The Kingsley by Thistle hotel in the Bloomsbury district of London is marking the first birthday of a £10 million refurbishment and re-brand with the launch of the hotel brand’s first-ever in-suite library for guests.

Drawing on its heritage as the former home of Charles Kingsley and the famous “Bloomsbury Set” of writers, The Kingsley will offer guests staying in its suites access to an exclusive series of lost classics brought back into print by local publisher Bloomsbury Publishing.

Guests partial to a book before bedtime will be offered a Thistle reading pillow and complimentary hot chocolate in each of the suites, and regular guests will be able to take the books out on loan, returning them on their next visit.

Located on Bloomsbury Way in London’s West End, The Kingsley by Thistle recently completed a £10 million refurbishment and restoration programme which saw the property restored to its former Edwardian splendor. Formerly called Thistle Bloomsbury, the hotel also reverted back to its original name as a mark of its literary heritage.

Renovation has seen the hotel’s Edwardian façade restored and its bedrooms completely modernized in a color palette of rich reds, greys and creams, contemporary furnishings and state-of-the-art technology, including LCD TVs. Post-refurbishment, The Kingsley offers room-rate discount deals and special offers to complement the hotel’s upgrade packages.

The public area of the Bloomsbury-district hotel features a new restaurant and bar and its seven meeting rooms and conference facilities have been updated with new stylish contemporary furniture, diverse lighting systems and high-quality AV equipment.

“We are incredibly proud of our hotel’s heritage so want to invite our guests to share in our exclusive literary past and relax and unwind with one of the many great books available from The Kingsley’s library,” says Johan Scheepers, general manager of the hotel. “Whether you’re one of our regular customers visiting on business, or a passing leisure guest, you should always make time for a good book so just give us a call and we’ll deliver it to your door.”
