Historic contract for Turkish combat drones with Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has signed two historical arms acquisition contracts for Turkey and its arms industry. They concern drones produced by the Turkish company Baykar, designer of the now well-known TB2 combat drone.

Erdogan signs defense cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia

Arrived this Monday, July 17 in Saudi Arabia, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, began a tour of the Gulf countries. The goal? attract foreign investment in order to boost the economy of his country which is experiencing great difficulties.

As part of this visit, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Khalid bin Salman and the Turkish President signed several bilateral agreements relating to the fields of media, direct investment and energy according to the London media Middle East Eye.

A defense cooperation agreement was also signed. The Saudi prince said in a tweet that this “executive plan includes cooperation in the fields of (military) capabilities, defense industries, research and development”. As part of this cooperation plan, an acquisition contract between the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense and the Turkish company Baykar was signed.
