Air Canada revealed his Top 10 annual Best New Canadian Restaurants for 2023, the Japanese restaurant Kappo Sato of Toronto occupying the coveted first place.
Led by Chef Takeshi Sato, Kappo Sato is a Kappo-style Omakase restaurant where the tasting menu is prepared entirely in front of guests. In second place, in Whistler, the ultimate mountain ski destination, the sumptuous Wild Blue Steakhouse elevates fine dining with its remarkable selection of meats and seafood. Marilena Cafe & Raw Bar, in third place, serves premium seafood in a casual environment in Victoria, Vancouver Island.
This Canadian airline ranking celebrates each year the most innovative restaurants that have opened their doors across Canada and which offer extraordinary experiences through the quality of their products, their service and their sense of culinary creativity. After 22 years of existence, it is the oldest restaurant ranking in the country. Culinary vision, quality of menu ingredients and team spirit are all elements that are taken into account to draw up the Top 10 list.
For 2023, the 10 restaurants selected were selected by the culinary critic and author of the book The Best New Canadian CookbookAmy Rosen, who returns to the program after having been its very first anonymous editor in 2002 and 2003. During a month-long journey from one end of Canada to the other, she took meals incognito in more than 30 establishments designated by a group of culinary experts.
The complete list can be viewed in the November issue of Air Canada enRoute magazine and online on the Best New Canadian Restaurants website.
