At least 100 false bomb threats targeted the French airports since mid-October, indicated the Minister for Transport Clément Beaune, this morning on the channel LCI.
“We will file a complaint every time, we will not let anything go», insisted on recalling the minister, declaring that he had “received a total of 100 alerts in French airports » since October 18, but “a little less in recent days, precisely because there is this position of great firmness“. In addition to the bomb threats, “we have almost a doubling of reports of abandoned luggage in train stations and airports“, he added.
The financial consequences for airport operators are very heavy, according to the Union of French Airports (UAF). If, for the moment, “the airports have not yet taken stock“, losses could amount to “has several million euros», affirmed last week the president of the UAF, Thomas Juin, quoted by BMFTV.
“We are in a situation of extremely damaging tension, as we come out of a season where our teams were very busy (…) We find ourselves this fall with a succession of constraints, it is not an easy period», lamented Thomas Juin. Faced with the repetition of false alarms on a daily basis, airports are no longer evacuated entirely, but only in zones, particularly before “the filtered part» security checks.
