Fires in Tenerife: no disruption to air traffic

All the airport and port activities continue without problems and no cancellations have been recorded despite the fires ravaging Tenerifethe most populous island in the Canaries, the local tourist office said.

Road traffic around the island is also not affected, with the exception of the closures of access roads to the mountainous area, in particular those leading to the Teide National Park where fires are still progressing. Some 130,000 tourists, who are currently on holiday in Tenerife, can leave the island by air via Tenerife-North and Tenerife-South international airports or by port without problem.

In any case and if the situation remains unchanged, the Tenerife tourist office calls for extreme precautions. It is requested to follow the security recommendations and to keep informed of the evolution of the situation using the official communication channels of the Canary Islands Regional Government and the Island Council of Tenerife:
– Site of the regional government of the Canary Islands
1-1-2 Canary Islands
Island Council of Tenerife
– Highways Information Center of the Insular Council of Tenerife

A telephone number for the network of tourist information centers on the island has also been set up to answer questions from visitors in Spanish and English: (+34) 922 255 433. This service is available between 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. (local hour).
