Finnair: the end of duty free… and soon the end at all?

The Finnish airline continues to suffer due to the blockade of airspace over Russia, which makes it difficult for the carrier to operate flights to Asia, the strong point of its business model. A situation that prompted Finnair to intervene on certain costs, including that of the sale of duty free products on board.

According to the company, these additional revenues no longer cover the upstream costs, between purchases and dedicated personnel; moreover, the elimination of the products would also lighten the weight of the aircraft by generating savings on fuel.

Remember that, at the end of February and still in the “weight loss” strategy, Finnair will cut 147 jobs aimed at restoring its profitability; including 90 jobs in Finland and 57 others abroad.
