Germany’s next-generation MTG-I1 weather satellite provides impressive data that revolutionizes weather forecasting and severe weather monitoring, ensuring better protection of lives and property.
Preliminary data from the MTG-I1 satellite promises a revolution in weather forecasting.
Preliminary data from the MTG-I1 satellite, the first of a new generation of weather satellites for improved observation and forecasting of severe weather, is astonishing. They represent a true revolution for weather forecasting and nowcasting of extreme and dangerous weather phenomena. As part of the calibration and validation of the various elements of the satellite and the terrestrial segment, the data collected by the two main instruments on board the MTG-I1, the Flexible Combined Imager (FCI) and the Lightning Imager (LI) , were combined for the first time to highlight the synergy effect.
