Etihad Airways and SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) have signed a “strategic codeshare agreement“, so that customers of both airlines benefit from a improved connectivity on their networks.

Travelers will be able to book on a single ticket and will only have to check in once at the start of their flight, with their luggage transferred to their final destination. This code sharing allows travelers from Northern Europe to travel to Abu Dhabi and then connect to the global network of Etihad Airways serving the Indian subcontinent, East Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Conversely, with the SAS network, they have unique access across Scandinavia to regional destinationss such as Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Gothenburg, Bergen and Aarhus.

This agreement strengthens Etihad Airways’ relationship with SAS, including partnering with SAS on the Etihad Guest loyalty program. Etihad Guest members will earn miles when traveling with SAS and vice versa for EuroBonus members, and this feature is now extended to all flights on both airline networks.

Codeshare is expected to go into full service at the end of December 2023, when customers will be able to book through Etihad sales channels, including Etihad.com and travel agencies, for travel starting in January 2024. Recall that the company Aerial Scandinave SAS has recently become 19.9% owned by the Air France-KLM group following a financing solicitation process.
