Following a European call for tendersthe British airline easyJet was chosen by the Joint Airport Union to ensure the public service air link between La Rochelle and Lyon for a period of four years, from December 11, 2023 to October 31, 2027.
EasyJet has already been operating this connection, by direct flight, since April 17, 2023, following an emergency procedure which had been implemented following the early termination of the Chalair company which had been providing this public service delegation since November 2019. easyJet flights are operated in Airbus A319with a capacity of 156 seats, with the possibility of upgrading to an A320 (180 seats) depending on demand.
From December 11, 2023, easyJet will operate this La Rochelle-Lyon route at a rate of two rotations per weekevery Monday morning and Friday afternoon, as well as Wednesdays during school holidaysat the following times:
-Monday: departure from Lyon at 7:20 a.m. and arrival in La Rochelle at 8:40 a.m.; departure from La Rochelle at 9:10 a.m. and arrival in Lyon at 10:25 a.m.
-Friday: departure from Lyon at 3:00 p.m. and arrival in La Rochelle at 4:20 p.m.; departure from La Rochelle at 4:50 p.m. and arrival in Lyon at 6:05 p.m.
-Wednesday (only during school holidays): departure from Lyon at 10:30 a.m. and arrival in La Rochelle at 11:50 a.m.; departure from La Rochelle at 12:20 p.m. and arrival in Lyon at 1:35 p.m.
Gérard Pons, president of the Joint Union of La Rochelle – Ile de Ré and Rochefort Charente-Maritime airports, spoke following the union committee meeting yesterday to validate the choice of carrier: “ The La Rochelle-Lyon airline represents an essential service for businesses, residents of Charente-Maritime and the tourism sector.
