Sun Expressa joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, announced a firm order for 45 Boeing 737 MAX and purchasing rights for 45 other optional devices.

Speaking at the Dubai Airshow, which opens in Dubai today, SunExpress Managing Director Max Kownatzki said the firm order was for 28 737 MAX-8 and 17 737 MAX-10 aircraft. “Over the next decade, we will more than double our fleet, reaching a fleet of 150 aircraft by 2033. Additionally, the addition of the 737-10, the newest 737 MAX aircraft that can accommodate up to 230 seats, to our fleet will allow us to further strengthen our capacity“, he stressed.

This new order from SunExpress is in addition to a first order for 42 737 MAX-8s, nine of which have already been delivered. Also, its fleet currently includes 50 Boeing 737-800 (NG). While waiting to receive its new Boeing single-aisle aircraft, the Turkish-German low cost airline has leased seven Airbus A320s from Avion Express, an airline based in Lithuania dedicated to the chartering of aircraft with crew.
