Dubai Airshow: Emirates orders 202 additional GE9X engines and services for Boeing 777X fleet

Emirates announced on November 13, 2023 an order for 202 GE9X engines and spare parts to equip its future fleet of Boeing 777X family aircraft. The order also includes a long-term services agreement. This order brings the total number of GE9X engines ordered by Emirates to 460.

It was on November 13, 2023, during the opening day of the Dubai show, that Emirates announced an order for 202 GE9X engines and spare parts to equip its future fleet of Boeing 777X family aircraft. The order also includes a long-term services agreement. This order brings the total number of GE9X engines ordered by Emirates to 460. Today’s agreement also includes many other related services over the life of the aircraft.

“Emirates has a long and strong working partnership with GE, and we are pleased to extend this relationship with additional GE-9X orders to equip our expanded Boeing 777X fleet,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of the airline and the Emirates Group. “Today’s order builds on decades of partnership with this airline, including our multi-faceted collaboration between GE90 and GP7200 engines, engineering and maintenance with the Engineering and Maintenance Center of Emirates, and sustainability and entrepreneurship initiatives,” said Larry Culp, Chairman and CEO of GE and President and CEO of GE Aerospace.

…For its Boeing “triple-seven”

The GE9X is the exclusive engine for the Boeing 777X family of aircraft. It features heat-resistant ceramic matrix composites (CMC), additively manufactured parts and lean-burn combustion that helps improve energy efficiency. Apart from its large dimensions -3.40 m in diameter!-, the GE9X is also distinguished by its overall pressure ratio of 60:1. Emirates has the largest GE9X order book of any airline in the world.
