With a firm order for 30 additional Airbus A220-300s, airBaltic will become the largest European medium-haul customer, ahead of Air France-KLM.
30 more Airbus A220-300s for airBaltic
There will therefore be a bit of Airbus on this first day of the Dubai Airshow. And it’s an airline that comes from the cold that gets the ball rolling. AirBaltic firmly orders 30 Airbus A220-300s, becoming the largest European customer for this version of the medium-haul. With these purchases, the carrier brings the total number of copies ordered to 80, ahead of Air France-KLM which is at 60 firm copies.
Already 44 A220-300s in operation
A wink that Airbus communicators were able to astutely highlight: airBaltic is currently the largest operator of Airbus A220-300 in the world with 44 examples in operation ahead of the heavyweights that are Air France (31) , Air Canada (33), Delta Airlines (19) or JetBlue Airways (19).
An aircraft worn by the North American market
The more time passes, the more the projections of Bombardier managers, during the launch of the CSeries, are validated. The now A220s were essentially designed for the North American market and that turns out to be right. Of the total firm sales recorded at the end of October 2023, North America’s share was 58%, excluding orders placed by rental companies.
