THE United Arab Emirates (UAE) having resolutely registered the advanced air mobility (AAM) on the agenda of the future of air transport, the 18th edition of Dubai Airshow (Dubai Airshow), which will be held from November 13 to 17, 2023, will build on this momentum and showcase the latest innovations in the sector.

This year, Dubai Airshow will host a new pavilion dedicated to AAM, where regional and global players can experience future flight technologies that are expected to have a major influence on air mobility.

Welcoming new and existing exhibitors, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a multitude of air transportation solutions, including drones, UAVs, UAMs and eVTOLs, in the brand new AAM pavilion. An eVTOL flight demonstration will also be held to highlight the capabilities of these future transportation methods.

Earlier this year, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Rached Al Maktoum announced that the air taxis would start flying to Dubai within three years. He also approved the plans for development of vertiports as part of the emirate’s future air mobility infrastructure network, to facilitate the mobility of people in urban areas in a safe, smooth and sustainable manner, with terminal concepts currently being developed.

Scheduled for 2026, the UAE’s first vertiport will be opened near Dubai International Airport and will be connected to the metro network. It will link the most popular places in Dubai » and will allow « high-speed, emission-free travel », according to the British architectural firm Foster&Partners, in charge of this project.

Meanwhile, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Center (MBRAH) Dubai South announced an agreement to establish the world’s first AAM integrator center in Dubai, with all world’s first vertiport certification process underway as part of the project.
