Danube: a 5-star cruise through 8 countries

The cruise on the Danube is one of the jewels of Rivages du Monde, the reference in the sector of luxury cultural cruises. It was along the banks of this mighty river that Europe’s greatest empires were born and died. The cruise draws an exceptional walk in their footsteps. On the program of this cultural cruise is therefore the particularly diverse heritage in the cities of Prague, Bucharest, Belgrade, Budapest, Bratislava, Munich, Sofia and Vienna. The cities mentioned are in eight different European countries, namely Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.

Sailing on the Danube, it means following the twists and turns of the entire history of Europe and discovering the many influences that form the basis of our European artistic and cultural heritage.

From one high place to another

The big cities are not the only ones to strike the imagination… During the cruise, passengers can also expect to live unusual experiences. Like the passage of the Iron Gates, 135 km long. It is a spectacular and geographically unique canyon, dug some five million years ago. The defile features a series of narrow gorges, where the Danube narrows and winds its way fiercely through stunning landscapes. Archaeological digs dot its banks, but there are also traces of the past, dating from the Roman, Byzantine, Bulgarian, Serbian and Ottoman eras. The highlight of the canyon is undoubtedly the impressive medieval fortress of Golubac, which was once a formidable border post of the Eastern Roman Empire.

The Danube also plays a major role in our musical history. The piano recital offered on board pays tribute to the great European composers from this region. In addition, cruise passengers have the opportunity to attend concerts ashore.

On board the Amadeus Silver II

The M/S Amadeus Silver II is one of the most comfortable and elegant ships to sail on the Danube. On board, cruise passengers will almost everywhere have a panoramic view of the river and its surroundings. All cabins are outward-facing, allowing passengers to miss nothing of the panoramas that slowly unravel on the horizon. The cabins are equipped with all modern comforts: bathroom with shower, TV, air conditioning, telephone, hairdryer and safe. The lounge bar, the River Terrace on the Sun deck, the Café Vienna, the Amadeus Club and the panoramic restaurant also offer a breathtaking view of the Danube.
